Michaela was born in Manchester, though you’d never know it. She moved on to misspend her youth in more exotic locations and now divides her time between Brighton, the French Riviera and… Rutland. She writes prolifically, and while she has worked with everyone from small sticky infants to largish tattooed felons, she sticks to writing mostly for shorter people. Picture books, short fiction and poetry are her favoured areas.
Michaela writes constantly. “… in bed, on a beach, in the bath. That’s why I don’t like showers – you can’t write (for long) in there.” She has more ideas than she knows what to do with and contributes, very successfully, to major educational projects just to clear out her head of spare ideas.
She has worked at some odd jobs (some much odder than others). Sensible jobs include being a teacher, running her own business and working as a Writer in Residence in prisons. She is also a mum. She is very regularly involved in school and festival events.
