If you’re looking for information about the publishing process, the Writers and Artists website is a great resource.

Many writers find it helpful to join a writers’ group in their area or online. We find that writers’ groups can help writers with their editing and offer all kinds of advice and support.

If you would like professional advice on your manuscript, or further support in your writing, there are many reputable literary consultancies and editors offering freelance editing services or writing courses. These vary in price point, style, and specialisation and, while they can help writers, they are by no means a guaranteed route to representation or publication, and they are just one of many ways that you can improve your writing. Here are a few to get you started:

  • Daniel Goldsmith Associates give an honest, comprehensive and constructive review on fiction, non-fiction and children’s literature.
  • Blue Pencil Agency offer an in-depth editorial analysis of your work by industry professionals.
  • Kitty Walker is an independent literary consultant/editor, working with adult and children’s fiction and narrative non-fiction. Her focus is primarily pace, structure and characterisation.
  • The Novelry can help to develop your novel towards successful submission. Their services include The Finished Novel Course.

Here are writing tips from some of our clients.
