You’re a Bad Man, Mr Gum! by Andy Stanton has been chosen as one of the 6 titles to be featured in the Waterstone’s Big Book Bank trail promotion.

Big Book Bank books will be merchandised together in a children’s section dumpbin or promotional shelf. The aim is to have 5,000 children participating following the start of the scheme in September 2008.

This is a new initiative that aims to encourage kids to share books that they have loved with their classmates whilst being rewarded for doing so. Built around a lesson plan and administered via their teachers, children will be encouraged to bring in a book from home that they’ve read and enjoyed to be placed in a Waterstone’s Book Bank branded area of their school library. In exchange they will receive a what-to-read-next recommendation leaflet and a voucher for a free, new book from the pre-selected list. Vouchers will be limited to 1 per child and there will be an added incentive of 10% off £10+ voucher for parents.
