Kirkus reviews A Cupboard Full of Coats by Yvvette Edwards in the May 15, 2011 issue, branding it an “impressive debut”
It is a first novel “that explores the trans-generational fallout from an abusive relationship. Edwards vividly re-creates the lifestyles, cuisine and dialect of Caribbean immigrants living in London’s East End.”
The review also comments that “the novel spirals to a satisfying if not entirely surprising climax” and is “particularly notable for its pellucid prose.”
