News  ·  “Keeper and Reinventor of the Scottish Language”: Catch Len Pennie on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb

Len Pennie, Scots language poet and TikTok star, has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s ‘The Verb’, with host Ian McMillan describing Len as “the keeper and reinventor of the Scottish language in the 21st century”.

Alongside fellow guests Denise Mina, Kathryn Williams, and Ian Humphreys, Len discussed questions such as “how much confidence do you need to write or create out of your comfort zone? What does it take to embark on unfamiliar genres – the historical novel perhaps, starting a podcast or vlog, or writing a lyric poem? And how can the great poet, performer and humourist Ivor Cutler inspire us to write our most authentic material? Is confidence a helpful word for writers?”

You can listen to the full programme here.

Len’s debut collection, poyums, will be released by Canongate on 22nd February 2024. You can pre-order your copy here.
