News  ·  My Mad Fat Guardian Article

Rae Earl, writer of My Mad Fat Diary which has now been made into a hit E4 TV show, has written an article in the Guardian about her childhood mental health issues.

In the article Rae movingly describes how her tendencies for obsessive behaviour and anxiety led to her being admitted to an adult psychiatric ward. ‘Who knows when being mentally unwell starts?’, she wonders. Above all, she expresses hope that everyone can overcome mental illness – ‘The truth is that with the right therapy, us odd kids have so much to give’.

My Mad Fat Diary airs Mondays at 10pm on E4.
