News  ·  Luan Goldie to Judge Spread the Word’s Early Career Bursaries

My Journey to Representation by Luan Goldie

Women’s Prize-longlisted Luan Goldie, whose latest novel These Streets was released this summer, will be on the judging panel for Spread the Word’s inaugural Early Career Bursaries programme.

“The Early Career Bursaries for London Writers provide three low income London writers a year with bursaries each worth £15,000; £10,000 cash and £5,000 towards development opportunities. The Bursary programme will run from February 2023 to January 2024.”

Luan said:

“Early support is vital when it comes to nurturing talent and these bursaries will be life changing for three writers. Spread the Word gave me one of my first breaks, back when I was unpublished and struggling to squeeze my writing around my ‘real job’. So, it’s a huge privilege to be involved with this project and I can’t wait to start discovering new voices from across London.”

The window for applications closes on Tuesday 1st November. Find out more, including the full judging panel and how to apply, here.

These Streets is out now. Grab your copy here or, better, via your local bookshop or Bookshop.org.
