News  ·  A Witty And Colourful Tale

Rachael Mortimer‘s Red Riding Hood and the Sweet Little Wolf has been praised for ‘its topsy-turvy telling of the traditional fairytale’ by the online parenting magazine, Junior…

…The article talks of how the ‘little wolf dreams not of eating princesses, but of being one, much to her big bad wolf parents’ chagrin’. Practical Parenting and Pregnancy has also reviewed the story, calling it ‘colourful‘ and ‘witty‘, while The School Librarian talked of how ‘looking at the classic tale from the perspective of the wolf provides a fantastic opportunity for children to see the story from someone else’s viewpoint. It is easy for a child to empathise with Little Red Riding Hood in most retellings, but this title gives them the chance to look at things from the wolf’s way of thinking. The (female) wolf in this retelling would rather listen to fairy tales than catch a girl for dinner, and it’s only by the lure of stories and dressing up that she finds herself in Grandma’s bed. Will the wolf suffer the same fate of those before him? Or will Red Riding Hood have enough compassion to save him?’
