James Norbury was born in the Forest of Dean and has spent most of his life making up stories and drawing pictures. He has always loved animals, and their care and wellbeing is close to his heart.
He studied Zoology at university and after graduating moved to Ireland. He has travelled around the UK living in Newcastle, Swansea, Cheltenham and on a narrowboat.
Finding himself a little lost, James found answers in old spiritual teachings, the practice of which became an important part of his life.
After moving back to Swansea, he went on to volunteer with Samaritans, talking to people on the phone who were suffering with a range of issues such as loneliness, depression and despair. He recognised that there might be others who would benefit from the things he’d learnt and so planned to start a local group but Covid-19 stopped that plan in its tracks. Instead, he started drawing pictures to illustrate the ideas and posting them on Facebook and Instagram—so started Big Panda & Tiny Dragon.
James now lives in Swansea with seven cats and his wife, Ruth. He volunteers with Swansea Cats and Kittens.
