As announced in The Bookseller, Canongate will publish Scots language poet Len Pennie‘s sophomore collection, poyums annaw.

In the announcement, which you can read in full here, Canongate described Len’s voice as ‘equal parts tenderness, quick-wit and righteous fury’, with the collection touching on topics as varied as ‘patriarchy, gender-based violence and societal injustice.’

Len, a poet and social media star with a sizeable following, said: ‘I am so excited to finally be able to speak about poyums annaw; it’s something I’ve been pouring a lot of love and spite into for a long time. Becoming an author has been life changing for me, and I’m so privileged to have the teams at Canongate and Eve White to accompany me on every step of this journey.’

Senior commissioning editor Helena Gonda said: ‘It’s been a delight to publish Len and the response to her debut collection has been outstanding. She is breathing new life into poetry and opening it up to a whole new readership so I’m thrilled that readers will have another collection from her to enjoy this year.’

poyums annaw will be published in September 2025 and is available for pre-order now. You can order your signed copy here.
