Andy Stanton and illustrator David Tazzyman won the inaugural Roald Dahl Funny Prize yesterday with Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear in the 7-14 category, fighting off stiff competition from Louise Rennison, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Michael Bond, Dinah Capparucci and Kjartan Poskitt. Chaired by Children’s Laureate, Michael Rosen, the ceremony was attended by Liccy Dahl, Roald’s widow, Quentin Blake and judges, Sophie Dahl, Chris Riddell, Kaye Umansky and Dara O’Briain. Andy was interviewed by John Humphreys on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning (14th Nov) and The Guardian online reported on the event. Guardian report.
