News  ·  Mad Fat's record ratings

Radio Times reported that My Mad Fat Diary has helped pull in record audiences for E4 against the soon to be defunct BBC3. The 90s-set teen drama, alongside…

…other successful shows such as Made in Chelsea and Big Bang Theory, have contributed to E4 having its best year in 2013.

Jay Hunt, Channel 4 and E4’s creative head said, “E4 has young [television] audiences that are larger than Channel 5 and BBC2.”

She also added, “it’s hard to see where else Mad Fat Diary, featuring a heroine who is exactly that, would have found a home […] Things like Mad Fat Diary I don’t think would be on any other channel.”

The first season of My Mad Fat Diary, based on Rae Earl‘s diary of the same name has been impressing critics as well as viewers and has been nominated for two Royal Television Society Programme Awards. It’s second series had similar success receiving a cool million viewers.

The second series which is on now, is based on the second installment of Rae’s diaries, My Madder Fatter Diary.
