The Daily Telegraph report today (14th Nov 08) on the Roald Dahl Funny Prize awards, included a review by Sam Leith of the winning book in the 7 – 14 category, Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear by Andy Stanton: ‘entirely delightful…the deliberately bad grammar will infuriate all the right people, and the similes – ‘quiet as an avocado’; ‘bawling away like a greengrocer’ – will make children hoot.’
