We’re delighted to be kicking off 2023 by announcing a special romance edition of the Eve White Pitch Party! After the success of our first-ever Twitter pitch party in 2022, this is another unique opportunity for un-agented writers to pitch their unpublished novels directly to our agents – and a chance for us to request three chapters and a synopsis from the authors whose pitches we like.

This time, our aim is to find our next bestselling clients in the adult and YA romance fiction market. The books pitched must be in the romance fiction genre or have a strong romantic theme/plot.

How does it work?

From 9AM-9PM GMT on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday 14^th February 2023, tweet a pitch for your novel of up to 280 characters using the #EWPP hashtag. While this time round we’re specifically looking for a work of romance fiction or a book with a strong romantic theme, you can also use the optional hashtags to indicate another genre/theme of your novel – please see the FAQ below for a list. If we would like to read your three chapters, we will “like” your tweet.

Please encourage other writers by retweeting their pitch if you like it, but please do not “like” other writer’s tweets so that everyone can see clearly which manuscripts we’ve requested.

Who can submit, and what can they submit?

We would like to read a pitch from any writer working on a romance novel for an adult or YA audience who has three complete chapters and a synopsis ready to submit. We’d especially like to invite writers from communities typically underrepresented in the publishing industry to pitch their work. If you identify as a writer from an underrepresented community and would like to flag this in your pitch, please feel free to use the hashtag #UC in addition to any genre hashtags below.

The prize

As well as requesting manuscripts from all the pitches that have us hooked, we will be choosing our single favourite pitch of the day. We will offer a 30-minute online consultation with agents Eve White and Ludo Cinelli to the author of the best pitch as a prize. We’ll contact the winner by DM within a week of the pitch party, so please make sure you are accepting DMs if you’d like to be contacted.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for great stories that can be pitched effectively in a single line – whether that’s historical fiction, literary fiction, women’s fiction, reading group, or anything else. We want to be surprised by pitches, to be faced with situations and to meet characters we haven’t imagined before, and to immediately picture the intricacies, conflicts and complications of your plot. FAQ

Do I have to have completed my full manuscript to enter?

No. As long as you have three chapters and a synopsis ready to share, we are happy to consider your pitch.

Can I pitch multiple novels?

No. We would like you to pitch only the novel you believe to be your strongest and are keenest to get published.

Can I tweet multiple pitches for the same novel?

No. We would like you to tweet only one pitch for your novel.

I don’t live in the UK. Can I still participate?

Yes, as long as the manuscript is written in English! We’re open to receiving submissions from anywhere in the world and represent clients who live in many different countries.

What should I do if you don’t “like” my pitch?

You shouldn’t take this as a reflection of the quality of your work: some books pitch better than others; some writers are better at pitching than others; and sometimes we don’t connect even with great writing. You’re still more than welcome to submit via our open submissions system here. And, of course, you should keep writing and pitching your work.

Are novellas and short story collections permitted?

No. But you can still submit these types of books via our open submissions system here.

Are non-fiction books and children’s books permitted?

No. But you can still submit these types of books via our open submissions system at here.

If my book was previously published (self-published or published by someone else), can I pitch it?

No; even if it has since been edited.

What if I can’t be on Twitter on that day?

We recommend you schedule your tweet instead.

When will I hear back about my submission?

We do our best to get back to all submissions within a week, and we’re usually quite good at sticking to that. We can guarantee that we write back to everyone who submits.

What are the optional hashtags I can use to describe my book’s genres/themes?
