News  ·  “By Gum, This is How You Do A Kids’ Show.”

The Times has published a five-star review for Andy Stanton‘s Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear – The Musical!

“Andy Stanton has, with the director Amy Hodge and the composer Jim Fortune, created a big hairy musical that invades the Dorfman stage with gleeful idiocy. It’s like watching the Brechtian punk-cabaret band the Tiger Lillies perform a musical version of Roald Dahl’s The Twits. Or an adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days by Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer and the Mighty Boosh. It makes most other children’s theatre seem like Listen With Mother.

This family show runs for the whole of the school holidays at The National Theatre. Tickets are on sale here.

The musical is based on Andy’s book, Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear.  Find all his books here, or at your local bookshop.
