The Telegraph and The Daily Mail (April 28th) point out that many big favourites, including Harry Potter, were not on the list of all time favourites chosen by five Children’s Laureates. Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear was called ‘wild, eye-watering comedy’ and was the newest book to be chosen for a classics-heavy list for The Laureates Table, a new Waterstones promotion which celebrates ten years of Children’s Laureates. Andy Stanton talked on BBC Radio 5 Live about his delight at being chosen.
